Procrastination prevents individuals from taking important action in their lives meaning personal goals are never achieved as the actions that are necessary to achieve the goals are never completed. This usually manifests by convenient distractions or excuses that allow us to rationalise why an important action never gets done.

The cause of procrastination is usually fear. The task at hand threatens us, as we perceive it to be challenging and may lead to failure due to us believing  that we are not good enough to be successful. The subconscious mind then creates a sense of fear based on the perception of the upcoming event.

Hypnosis is effective when dealing with procrastination by first achieving a relaxed state and then carefully delivering suggestions.
